Depending on weather conditions, we expect the proposed Mackenzie Valley Pipeline and gathering systems to be constructed over several winter seasons, between December and April. A number of separate construction crews will be used to construct the pipeline.

Each pipeline section, or 'spread,' will have crews working on:

• Clearing the right-of way
• Stringing pipe
• Bending pipe
• Welding pipe
• Digging the trench
• Lowering the pipe
• Installing valves and special fittings
• Testing pipe
• Back-filling
• Cleaning up

Fewer crews will be needed during the summers. Some river crossings may be completed at that time of year.

Based on preliminary estimates, approximately 2,600 jobs could be available at the peak of pipeline construction.
