Approximately six trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas
has already been discovered in the three main fields in the
Mackenzie Delta:

The planning for the development of each of these three fields
is in the early stages. Several options for design and location
are still being studied. The plans will be finalized after
consultation and review with people in communities that may
be affected, and with regulators and other groups that have
an interest.
The Wells
Before the three natural gas fields can be developed, new
wells must be drilled. Most of these wells will be directionally
drilled. This will allow several wells to be drilled from
one surface production pad. That way, fewer surface areas
are needed.
These sites will be designed to minimize permafrost impact.
