Application
to the National Energy Board for Approval of the Mackenzie Gathering
System
The Mackenzie gathering system is one of the major components
of the Mackenzie Gas Project. The gathering pipelines will
extend from the Mackenzie Delta to Inuvik. From there, the
natural gas liquids (NGLs) pipeline component of the gathering
system will extend along the east side of the Mackenzie River
valley to Norman Wells.
The Mackenzie gathering system consists of:
gathering pipelines to collect the sweet natural gas and
associated NGLs from three natural gas fields, Niglintgak,
Taglu and Parsons Lake (the anchor fields), and transport
them to a facility located near Inuvik
a gas processing facility near Inuvik (the Inuvik area
facility) to recover NGLs from the gas stream
a pipeline to transport NGLs south from the Inuvik area
facility to Norman Wells (the NGL pipeline), where it will
be tied into the existing Enbridge Pipelines (NW) Inc. pipeline
associated pipeline facilities, including:
pigging facilities
metering stations
a slug catcher
valve stations
The gathering system will be designed to accommodate natural
gas and NGLs from other natural gas fields in the Mackenzie
Delta and other areas.
Subject to regulatory approvals with satisfactory conditions
being received by mid-2006, construction of required facilities
is expected to be completed to enable gas and NGLs to be delivered
to Alberta through the Mackenzie gathering system and the
Mackenzie Valley pipeline in 2009.
