Several major contractors provide services to the Mackenzie
Gas Project.
Colt KBR
For
over 30 years, Colt
Engineering Corporation has operated as a multi-discipline
engineering contractor in the design of hydrocarbon production
and processing projects in Canada, the United States and in
many regions of the world. Colt specializes in the design
of conventional oil and natural gas facilities, pipelines,
refineries, petrochemical plants, electrical power generation
and cogeneration facilities, heavy oil facilities and oil
sands plants. Colt has extensive experience in the handling,
treating and transportation of sour oil and gas, heavy oil,
and bitumen production. Colt has strong capabilities and experience
in Arctic environments.
On the Mackenzie Gas Project, Colt, in joint venture with
KBR, was awarded a contract by Imperial Oil to complete conceptual
and preliminary engineering services related to the design
of the gas transmission pipelines and compression, gas treating
and gas gathering. ColtKBR was also awarded contracts for
related conceptual and preliminary engineering for production
pads at Taglu (Imperial Oil), Parsons Lake (Conoco/Phillips)
and Niglintgak (Shell Canada). ColtKBR is currently managing
the winter/summer field programs in the Northwest Territories,
providing broad database management and GIS services and is
supporting Imperial Oil in community relations and regulatory
matters.

AMEC
is a an international engineering services company providing
design, project delivery and support for oil and gas, transport,
infrastructure and industrial clients worldwide. Across North
America and abroad, the Earth & Environmental (E &
E) division within AMEC operates 90 full-service E & E
offices providing multi-disciplined solutions covering all
aspects of environmental services, geotechnical engineering,
materials testing, and engineering and water resource services.
AMEC's Earth & Environmental division in Calgary has
been contracted by Imperial Oil Resources to study the environmental
and socio-economic effects of the Mackenzie Gas Project. AMEC
and its partners Kavik-AXYS, IMG Golder and TERA Environmental
Consultants (referred to as the Mackenzie Project Environment
Group (MPEG)), provide staff to conduct the environmental
field studies and biophysical impact assessment, socio-economic
evaluations and assessments necessary to develop applications
for the required regulatory approvals for permission to proceed
with the proposed Project. This includes the development of
an impact assessment document and the provision of support
during the regulatory review process.
